REWiB’s first strategic plan, covering 2024 to 2028. It states the organisation’s purpose plainly: to monitor and advocate for implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda in Africa, and to offer a civil society perspective on that implementation through research and through participation in the regional platforms where progress is assessed.
The plan works through the context — from the Beijing Platform for Action in 1995 to Resolution 1325 in 2000 and the Maputo Protocol in 2003 — to a problem statement: Africa has no research institute dedicated to women, peace and security, and the reliance on Global North frameworks sustains an epistemic injustice this organisation exists to correct. From there it sets out the vision, mission and goal, the theory of change, the activities and indicators, the approach to work, and the arrangements for planning, monitoring and reporting.
