Dakar Declaration and ECOWAS Action Plan 2010

The Dakar Declaration and the ECOWAS Plan of Action for implementing Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 in West Africa — the outcome documents of the regional forum Women Count for Peace, held in Dakar from 15 to 17 September 2010 to mark the tenth anniversary of Resolution 1325.

The forum was convened by the UN Office for West Africa with the African Union, ECOWAS, the Mano River Union and the UN agencies working in the region, and was attended at ministerial level. Its recommendations commit member states without a national plan to produce one, hand coordination of the regional plan to the ECOWAS Gender Development Centre, and make NOPSWECO the coordinating body for civil society.
